Chevy Displays the Spark EV at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show
Last year at the Los Angeles Show, Chevrolet officially unveiled the 2014 Spark EV. Now it appears that not only will the vehicle be sold in the United States, but in select European as well. It made its European debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show earlier this month in quite an impressive showing. Homewood-area drivers can expect to see the Chevrolet Spark EV to hit the showroom at Homewood Chevy sometime in late 2013.
You may be surprised to hear that this battery-powered electric car will possess the ability to travel from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in 8.5 seconds. In addition, the 2014 EV will feature an electric motor that delivers over 130 hp as well as 400 lb-ft of torque.
As of right now, it’s uncertain what the maximum driving range will be, but it has been said that it will be among the best in its class. The new Spark EV will come equipped with a 20kWh battery system that is expected to be able to recharge on DC to 80% in about 20 minutes. Charging on AC will take somewhere between six and eight hours.
The stylish interior will come loaded with a number of high-tech features. A pair of seven-inch LCD screens will work as the infotainment system. The EV will also come featured with the Chevy MyLink system, which will allow you to connect your smartphone or other MP3 device to the radio. A rearview camera will also be available to help you see behind you when you have the vehicle in reverse. If you have a compatible iPhone, you’ll be able to utilize Siri, the voice-assisted information system.
