Chevrolet sweeps the Motor Trend awards this year winning both 2016 Motor Trend Truck of The Year, and Motor Trend Car of the Year. If you’ve been paying attention, you probably know that the Colorado won the same award last year, but it qualified for competition again this year because it can be had with an all-new turbodiesel engine, making it the only vehicle in this class with that kind of powertrain options. 2016 Chevy Colorado: Motor Trend Truck of the Year
The Colorado came out last year as an attempt make the best possible midsize pickup. Critics agree that the Colorado is the class leader, and now with an all-new turbodiesel four-cylinder, the 2016 Chevy Colorado, it’s even further ahead of its nearest competitors.
“What really shines here is simply the truck’s small size and lighter weight, which result in unusually sharp steering and deft handing,” said judges, “and all this wrapped around an engine that provides such great economy.” They called the new Duramax diesel a “sweetheart to drive,” and noted that “it doesn’t feel like it’s struggling, straining, or overexerting itself,” when carrying a heavy load.
2016 Chevy Camaro: Motor Trend Car of the Year
The 2016 Chevy Camaro enters its sixth generation with a bang. The new model, based on the GM Alpha platform, shared with the famously nimble Cadillac ATS and CTS, features plenty of high-strength steel and lightweight materials to optimize handling and performance. It also gets a host of powertrain revisions, including a new base 2.0L 275 hp turbo four-cylinder, a 3.6L V6 good for 335 hp, and the famous 6.2L small block V8 that produced 455 hp. Motor Trend reviewers had a lot to say about the new car, including, “Wow wow wow wow wow wow,” and “I could have lapped it for the next 10 years. I am absolutely in love with this car’s limit handling.”
